Servings
  • 2 tsp

Gives every dish the right amount of spice £3.19 £42.53/kg incl. 0% tax, excl. shipping
  • For the buttered breadcrumbs:

  • 1 tbsp
    butter
  • 50 g
    breadcrumbs
  • For the mac and cheese:

  • 350 g
    mini macaroni
  • 2 tbsp
    butter
  • 2 tbsp
    flour
  • 450 ml
    full-fat milk
  • 150 g
freshly grated cheese of your choice
  • 4 pinches
salt, depending on your choice of cheese

1
For the buttered breadcrumbs, place the butter and breadcrumbs in a pan and cook over a medium heat for around 2 minutes. Remove from the pan and set to one side.

2
Meanwhile, bring a pan of well-salted water to the boil, cook the pasta for two minutes less than indicated on the packet instructions and strain.

3
Preheat the oven to 220°C (top/bottom heat).

4
Melt the butter in a saucepan, stir in the flour and cook for around 1 minute. While stirring, add the milk and, stirring continuously, bring to the boil. Allow to cook for around 2 minutes before folding in the cheese. Season with salt and the Garlic Pepper.

5
Fold the macaroni into the sauce, place in a casserole dish, cover with the buttered breadcrumbs and bake in the oven for about 15 minutes.

Tip: Our chef’s recommendation: “My favourite cheese for mac and cheese is a mixture of Cheddar, Comté or Gruyère, Edam and a mature Alpine cheese. For the best mac and cheese, grate the cheese by hand. Packets of pre-grated cheese often contain anticaking agents, which can prevent those delicious, gooey cheese strands from forming!”
