Wash the spinach and spin dry. Heat half of the butter in a pan and sauté the spinach over a high heat for 1 minute. Season with 2 pinches of Sandwich Seasoning.

Divide the spinach between 4 slices of bread, top with the ham and cheese, and garnish with the Sandwich Seasoning. Place the other slices of bread on top and press together lightly.

Heat the remaining butter in the pan and cook the toasties for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.


Tip: Using a griddle pan gets you those beautiful stripes. Alternatively, place the assembled sandwich in a sandwich toaster and cook for 2 minutes.

Ham and cheese toastie

Strictly speaking, this toastie is made in the frying pan – like the American grilled cheese – but it could easily be made in a sandwich toaster, too. The perfect snack after school, between meetings or after work when cooking is the last thing on your mind, the humble ham and cheese toastie is beloved by many! Add some baby spinach leaves for extra iron and vitamins, and you’ve got yourself a well-rounded little meal.
