  • 8
    chicken drumsticks
  • 1
    onion
  • 3 cloves
    garlic
  • 1
    carrot
  • 1 stick
    celery
  • 2 tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 tbsp
    tomato puree
  • 500 ml
    light beer
  • 250 ml
    chicken stock
  • 1 tsp
    paprika
  • 2 sprigs
    thyme
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • salt, pepper
  • 1 bunch
    parsley

1
Season the drumsticks evenly with salt, pepper and the Lemon Herb Chicken Mix.

2
Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Peel the carrot and dice. Wash the celery stalk and slice thinly.

3
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over a medium heat. Fry the chicken drumsticks in the hot oil until golden brown on all sides, then remove and set aside.

4
Add the onion, garlic, carrot and celery to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft. Then add the tomato puree and fry briefly. Deglaze with the beer and stir well.

5
Add the chicken stock, paprika, thyme and bay leaf and bring to the boil. Return the seared chicken drumsticks to the pan, cover and simmer over a medium heat for about 45 minutes until the meat is tender and practically falling off the bone.

6
Remove the chicken from the sauce and keep warm. Reduce the sauce until it thickens slightly.

7
Meanwhile, wash the parsley, pat dry and chop finely.

8
Serve the chicken with the beer sauce, sprinkled with the chopped parsley.

Tip: Chicken thighs work well in this recipe too.
